Splash, Play, Bond

During our Sea Horse classes games and songs are incorporated in the lesson plans to teach your baby or toddler in a fun and playful way to be in the water. Playing, splashing, kicking and floating in the water are incorporated to help increase sensory development and body awareness.

Prerequisites

  • None

  • Ages 6 months to 3 1/2 years

Class Focus

  • Introduction to water safety skills
  • Water Acclimation: In and under the water
  • Back Floating
  • Parent/Child Bonding
  • This class is not designed to teach children to survive in the water alone.

Sea Turtle – Level: Parent and Me

Ages 18 months to 3 ½ years

Sea Turtles classes incorporate waterplay, splashing, kicking and floating in the water, activities that enhance fun and establish the baseline skills necessary for learning to swim.  This class is for children who are comfortable in the water, will transition from a parent to an instructor in the water during class, and are comfortable going under water.

Our New Program – Sea Lions is designed for children who prefer to learn in the water independently. If you think your child would benefit from this type of class, please check out the description below.

Prerequisites

  • Comfortable in the water

  • Ready to learn how to go under water or are already comfortable going underwater

  • Will transition from a parent to an instructor in the water during class

Class Focus

  • Rollover Breathing
  • Submersion and Breath Control
  • Learn to safely return to the pool edge and climb out
  • Establish independent kicking, back floats and roll overs

Teacher and Me

Sea Lion

I want to do it all by myself!

This is a NEW class for 2-year-olds who want to advance from the parent and me swim class and learn on their own from the instructor. Sea Lion classes incorporate waterplay, splashing, kicking and floating in the water, activities that enhance fun and establish the baseline skills necessary for learning to swim.  This class is designed for children who can learn in a group setting without their parent’s presence. This class will include some time for learning about on-deck safety.

Prerequisites

  • This class is for 2 year olds.

  • Comfortable in the water

  • Will transition from parent to instructor

  • Ready to learn in an "all by myself" class environment.

Class Focus

  • To increase comfort in the water through games and water activities
  • To introduce the safety float/back float
  • Acquire general confidence in the water with the goal of full submersion.
  • Learn to safely return to the pool edge and climb out.
  • 20-25 minutes will be spent in the pool.  The remainder of the class will be spent on-deck, learning water safety.

Guppy – Level 1

3 to 5 years

I’m ready to go!

Guppy classes are slower-paced classes designed for younger children who will require additional support to be successful in the pool. It is designed for the child who struggles with transitions from parent to teacher or experiences anxiety in the water.

Prerequisites

  • None

  • Minimum age: 3 years

  • This is an independent class. Parents watch from outside the pool enclosure.

Class Focus

  • To increase comfort in the water through games and water activities
  • To introduce the safety float/back float
  • Acquire general confidence in the water with the goal of full submersion.
  • Jump in the water with instructor assistance.

Clownfish – Level 2

(3 to 5 years)

Ready…Set…..Swim!

Clownfish classes are for beginners who are unable to swim and require flotation devices when unassisted.

This class is designed for children who are unafraid of the water and are able to go into class without any issues separating from their parent.

Prerequisites

  • comfortable in the water

  • Will transition from a parent to a teacher independently

Class Focus

  • Back float/Safety Float with Assistance
  • Learn horizontal leg position and become more streamlined when swimming.
  • Increase comfort in the water and fully submerge.
  • Increase comfort when jumping in the pool with assistance.

Jellyfish – Level 3

(3 to 5 years)

I want to swim all by myself

Jellyfish classes are for swimmers who are comfortable in the water but still require a flotation device. This class is for swimmers who have mastered the basics (face in the water, are unafraid to jump in with assistance) and are ready to work on the skills and endurance required to swim without assistance.

Prerequisites

  • Comfortable in the water

  • Will put face in the water

  • Swims with horizontal legs

Class Focus

  • To increase comfort in the water and total submersion.
  • To learn to back float independently.
  • To jump into water independently.
  • To Swim Independently 50 feet.

Minnow – Level 2

(6 years and older)

I can do this!

Minnow classes are designed for beginners 1st grade and older who are unable to swim and require flotation devices when unassisted.

Minnow is the best class for nervous swimmer, those unable to put their face in the water or those unable to jump in with assistance.  The pace of this class is slower than the Marlins class.

Prerequisites

  • none

  • this class designed for nervous swimmers.

Class Focus

  • Increase comfort in the water through games and water activities.
  • Acquire confidence to put face in the water and completely submerge.
  • Introduce the safely float/back float.
  • Jump into the pool with instructor assistance.

Marlin – Level 3

(6 years and older)

I’m ready to (learn to) swim!

Marlin classes are designed for swimmers age 6 and older who are comfortable in the water but are unable to swim and require flotation devices when unable to touch the bottom.
This class is for children who have mastered the basics (face in the water, are unafraid to jump in with assistance) and are ready to work on the skills and endurance required to swim without assistance.

Prerequisites

  • Comfortable in the water

  • Will put face in the water

  • Swims with horizontal legs

Class Focus

  • To become comfortable with total submersion
  • To Back float independently
  • To Jump in the water independently
  • To Swim independently 50 ft

Stingray – Level 4

(4 years and older)
30 minute class

I’m ready to take off and swim!

Stingray classes are for swimmers who are able to swim independently at least 50 ft. and are ready to build their swimming abilities.

This class is for the swimmer who is ready to start learning freestyle and elementary backstroke technique.

Prerequisites

  • Able to swim 50 ft unassisted, without a flotation or stopping. (1 length of our pool)

  • Comfortable swimming under the water

  • Swims with a horizontal body

Class Focus

  • Practice and become increasingly comfortable being in and under water in various depths.
  • Learn beginning freestyle techniques including rotary breathing.
  • Learn Basic Backstroke and elementary back stroke.
  • Build strength and endurance in the water.

Coach and Me

ages 6 and older

Dolphin – Level 5

I am ready for more of a challenge!

For more advanced swimmers who can swim 100 ft. unassisted with beginning freestyle or back stroke.

This class is for swimmers who want to increase their endurance and competitive stroke technique.

Prerequisites

  • Able to swim 100ft in beginning freestyle and backstroke (1 lap/2 lengths of our pool)

  • Familiar with the basics of the competitive strokes

  • Will go under the water and jump in unassisted

  • Swims with a horizontal body

Class Focus

  • To improve on freestyle and back stroke technique.
  • To introduce breaststroke and butterfly
  • To build endurance and strength in the water
  • To develop water safety skills including treading water

Shark – Level: 6

(6 years and older)
30 minute class
Ratio 8:1

I am a swimmer and it shows!

Shark classes are for our most advanced swimmers.

They are perfect for those who already have some knowledge of the completive strokes and want to improve on their technique and endurance

Prerequisites

  • Ability to swim 200 ft in beginning freestyle and backstroke. (2 laps/4 lengths of our pool)

  • Proficient in freestyle and back stroke

  • Familiar with Breaststroke and Butterfly

  • Swims with horizontal body

Class Focus

  • Competitive skills such as diving and flip turns are introduced.
  • To improve all stroke techniques.
  • To increase endurance and strength in the water.
  • Develop water safety skills including treading water and surface dives.
